Senior year can be very stressful especially when it comes to college process. After fall semester ends, senior life gets a little bit easier, but waiting for colleges to accept students and attending college interviews could be stressful for some.
A college interview is usually a way to brag about yourself to the person that is representing the establishment and show them your interests towards that specific educational institution. It’s a great way to show them who you really are and paint a perfect picture in their minds that your application wasn’t able to do.
The most common questions interviewers usually ask during the college interview most likely have to do with trying to figure out if you’re really interested in the college, or if it’s just another school on your list. Also they like to know what you can offer and bring to campus. Questions might be like : (Why do you want to attend our college and what could you bring to our college?) The only ways to know how to answer these questions is to research before your interview. No one is expecting you to know everything. Talk about what you learned about the college and explain why is it a great fit for you.
They might also ask you personality questions. For example: (Talk about yourself, what is your weakness and strength) they ask these types of questions to know if could speak for yourself. To answer this, example how you used your strength to accomplish something. Also you could say how you overcome your weakness.
They might ask you questions about what’s important to you to get a better picture of who you are as a person. ( How do you picture your life after graduating from our college?) In order to answer this question you have to think about what major; (something you are going to specialize in college) you want to follow, why you're interested in this, explain how college is going to help you to follow your dreams and why those dreams, be true to yourself and don’t try to impress the interviewer just show your passion.
After my college interview, I got that chance to ask my interviewers to get a better understanding in what they are looking for in a candidate and what makes a candidate stand out. What colleges look for in a student in general are leadership skills; if that student is able to be a leader in the community they are going to be in the future. Furthermore they look for someone that is capable in doing more and bring new ideas to campus to make it a better place.
REMEMBER, college interviews are a way to make the interviewers know you better, but it is not enough to get you into college, it is just a way to help you and help the administration office to decide if you are worthy to be at their college or not, like my interviewer explained to me that just because someones grade is amazing that doesn't mean they will accept him, like I said earlier they are looking for leaders and people that are going to bring new skills and traditions to campus.
Finally, don’t stress about it! You will do just fine, there is no right or wrong answer you just have to be true to yourself, have a conversation don’t memorize anything and have fun. Show your interviewer you are worth something that you are amazing! GOOD LUCK.
